Here i took 200 pictures of all the faces that you dont know me by. Overlapped them and reduced the transparency of each to ten percent. Unlike the traditional photo, which captures a single moment in time and space, this technique captures lengths of time and entire spaces. Giving, maybe, a more accurate representation of what i really look like.

Representation is one of the most popular forms of contemporary art today. What happens is a subject (time, place, event, thing, theme) is chosen. In this case it is ourselves. The subject is pushed through a filter of some kind that alters its characteristics to some degree making a new reality for the subject (a representation). The greatest thing about this exercise is that the final product is usually unexpected and quite possibly a more accurate representation of your image or self. This is the part that makes this process different than design. In design rules apply and the end result is typically anticipated and an ideal situation is desireable. Design is boring...its too orchestrated. Design is about the designer. This technique of representation is more like math. Just push the numbers through the filter and the result is a fact of the matter. No argument. No beauty. The idea of authorship is removed because it's just a process, the same for everyone.
