Second Coming

Medium
• Undecided.

Intent
• In general the idea is to fulfill supernatural prophecy through scientific and technological means.

The Work
• Status - Concept.

• I want to clone Jesus. It will be The Second Coming. The intention of the project is to address the way of thinking that has set religion and science in direct opposition to one another. It’s the perfect union of religious prophecy and scientific practice. The two are brought together to satisfy a common desire. The work lacks a precise moral or ideological position because it acts as both the simultaneous success and failure of both ideologies. It affirms and denies the sincerity of both.

• The execution of this piece is critical. It was the initial idea that started all of the other projects. It will not be in the show because I am waiting for the right idea. This brings me to one the biggest issues and dilemmas that I currently have with art.

I have a simple idea. I want to clone Jesus and call it the Second Coming. The idea feels very appropriate for this day and age. The problem with my intention is that I am not going to fulfill this prophecy. I am going to represent them through scientific and technological imagery. Like a set designer makes a fictitious character's house appear real. I don't like that the art will be fictitious and representational. I would like it to be actual. I want it to be real. So much art is just a joke, hoax, or suggestion at the end of the day. There in lies the dilemma. Representation in its very essence is not actual or factual. It is something seperate from the actual thing you are trying to say or do.

I need people to believe in it even if it is only for a moment.

Conclusion:
I need to go back to school for genetic engineering.
