Hemispheric mode indicator

The Hemispheric Mode Indicator (H.M.I) is a series of mixed media pieces that are based on the questions from a simple test that determines whether one is left brained or right brained. The test presents two choices and you have to choose one or the other. For example, one of the questions asks whether you "base decisions on facts or base decisions on feelings." This method requires you to answer the questions based on being either/or rather than being both/and. Answering the questions in this way does not allow you to take a comprehensive look at your experience. A comprehensive look at ones behavior would more than likely yield a contradictory response to a single question. We may feel a particular way towards something one day and change our position the next. We may base some decisions on facts and some on feelings depending on the context of the issue.

Each piece is on a standard sized bifurcated white support. The title of each piece is one of the questions from the test. The left side of the piece corresponds to the one of the choices in the question and the right side to the other. The questions presented by the test are placed in a religious, sexual, or moral, context based on the medium (mostly found objects) that each piece uses.
